INTRODUCTION OF THE INTERNET
What is the Internet ?
The Internet is Two or more computers that are connected to form a computer network in the world (world web) which interact and exchange information, Using a standardized Internet protocol TCP / IP.
Since 1999, the Internet has had 200 million users worldwide, and this number continues to increase rapidly and more than 100 countries connect to the Internet to exchange data and information.

Internet Service Provider (ISP)
That company that provides Internet services so that someone is possible to connect to the Internet network.
Basic services from ISPs: email, web hosting.
For selection of ISP :
1.       Local access to avoid long distance.
2.       High Reliability (rarely down) and 24-hour access.
3.       Connection with high speed.

Connection to Internet
1.       Modem / Dial Up: Using a modem that is connected to the telephone cable for internet access.
2.       Cable Broadband: Using a modem connected to cable TV to internet access.
3.       DSL (Digital Subscriber Line): Using a Digital Subscriber Line which is operated via the telephone and can be used simultaneously with the telephone line.
4.       Satellite Broadband: Using satellite broadband to send and receive data at high speed by using the antenna.
5.       ISDN: Provides data and voice digitally for connection to the internet.
6.       T-Line: Provides direct access to the Internet using digital circuits on a standard phone provided by your ISP.
7.       Wireless: Provides a very fast connection to the internet without CABLE.

Protocol TCP/IP
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol

Is a data communication standard used by the Internet community in the process of exchanging data from one computer to another computer on the Internet network.
This protocol requires that each computer in the Internet network must have a unique identity called number or IP address (IP Address).
IP addresses consist of four numbers with each until there is 0 to 255, and between numbers separated by a dot.

FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
Is a protocol that serves to transfer files from one computer to another
FTP Site provides books, articles, software, games, images, sound, multimedia, data, etc.
It has a command that allows users to connect to remote computer to retrieve some files.

DNS (Domain Name System)
That system which maps the domain to an IP address / text version of the IP Address.
The aim is to facilitate access of a resource on the internet.
Example:
http : www.uii.ac.id
uii                     = domain name
ac                     = type of service
id                      = country code
http  : www.imagineitcenter.com ?
imagineitcenter = domain name
com                  = type of serviceA

WWW (World Wide Web
That system which allows accessing the information in the Internet through hypertext approach.
Web uses the HTTP protocol (HyperText Transfer Protocol) which runs on TCP / IP.
Web documents are written in HTML (HyperText Markup Language) which is placed in the web server and accessed by clients via a web browser. Browse the web from a web browser needs to mention the URL (Uniform Resource Locator)

That application is sending the request to the HTTP server and receive response from the HTTP server
Contoh : Internet Explorer,  Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Safari, Google Chrome,Netscape Navigator,
